"Chili" Lounge Chair | Paul Falkenberg for Rom AG, Belgium | 1970s
Inspired by George Nelson's "Coconut" armchairs of 1955, Paul Falkenberg designed the very comfortable "Chili" lounge chair for ROM, Belgium, in the 1970s.
Rom AG was founded in 1961 as a family business in Belgium. Rom is still operating with Paul Rom running the company. Paul Falkenberg continues to design for Rom.
The triangular seat and round pillow are upholstered in Italian Trentino leather of a rich deep brown tone the color of coffee. The chair cover zips up in the back and is removable.
There are two large storage pockets - one on the end of each arm.
The lounge chair rests upon curved and chromed legs.

Pair Mid-Century Modern Lounge Chairs | Designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for Selig | Made in Denmark | 1958
The chair frames are created in Denmark from Danish beech wood with a walnut finish applied using a "Zeigkhlinge" process whereby the lacquer is applied with a sharp trowel-like knife and then partially scrapped off after each application. This is repeated until a flawless, glossy finish is produced.
Original golden-yellow striped fabric covers are zippered over the foam rubber seat and backrest cushions.
The seat cushions are supported by webbing across the seat frames. We have replaced the webbing with new, appropriate straps.
The back cushions rest against gracefully shaped wood upright supports.
The armrests are of the "Boomerang" design marketed by Selig.
